My dear Ramesvara Maharaja,
Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet.
I have informed Srila Prabhupada of the Alex affair. Here are [His] Divine Grace’s comments: “Henceforward taking money from anyone must be checked. It must be checked what is the source of the income. We should not accept money earned by sinful sources. I cannot do anything now. Everyone is papi (sinful) but one should not sin intentionally. Once taken shelter of Caitanya Mahaprabhu, that should be stopped. How to prevent these unfair means? I have given all the guidelines to the GBC. It is up to them. Whatever we do should be based on purity and honesty. If one does on one’s whimsical motivation, that is not good.”
The following conversation took place this morning as Jayapataka Maharaja tried to convince Srila Prabhupada of the necessity of staying with us: Jayapataka: “Why don’t you give us the chance to serve you by staying with us?” Srila Prabhupada: “I give you the chance but you go away. You can sit down 24 hours and chant. I think you are thinking of me as infectious. Therefore you avoid.” Jayapataka: “Srila Prabhupada, sometimes we leave because you have told us to make 50,000 devotees and distribute 100,000 pieces of literature (in Mayapur).” Srila Prabhupada: “No. While you are here (you are also not coming).”
