मैत्रेय उवाच प्रशंसन्ति स्म तं विप्रा गन्धर्वप्रवरा जगुः मुमुचुः सुमनोधाराः सिद्धा नृत्यन्ति स्वःस्त्रियः

maitreya uvāca praśaṁsanti sma taṁ viprā gandharva-pravarā jaguḥ mumucuḥ sumano-dhārāḥ siddhā nṛtyanti svaḥ-striyaḥ

Synonyms

maitreyaḥ uvācathe great saint Maitreya said; praśaṁsanti smapraised, glorified; tamhim (Pṛthu); viprāḥall the brāhmaṇas; gandharva-pravarāḥthe best of the Gandharvas; jaguḥchanted; mumucuḥreleased; sumanaḥ-dhārāḥshowers of flowers; siddhāḥthe personalities from Siddhaloka; nṛtyantiwere dancing; svaḥof the heavenly planets; striyaḥwomen (the Apsarās)..

Translation

The great sage Maitreya continued: My dear Vidurajī, at that time all the brāhmaṇas highly praised and glorified King Pṛthu, and the best singers of Gandharvaloka chanted his glories. The inhabitants of Siddhaloka showered flowers, and the beautiful women in the heavenly planets danced in ecstasy.
