tatrarg-veda-dharaḥ pailaḥ sāmago jaiminiḥ kaviḥ vaiśampāyana evaiko niṣṇāto yajuṣām uta
Synonyms
tatra—thereupon; ṛg-veda-dharaḥ—professor of the Rigveda; pailaḥ—the Rishi of the name; sāmagaḥ—that of the samaveda; jaiminiḥ—the Rishi of the name; kaviḥ—highly qualified; vaiśampāyanaḥ—the Rishi of the name; eva—only; ekaḥ—alone; niṣṇātaḥ—well versed; yajuṣām—of the yajurveda; uta—glorified.
Translation
Thereupon, after the four divisions of the Vedas, Paila Rishi became the professor of Rigveda, Jaimini the professor of Samaveda an Vaishampayano also only became glorified by the yajurveda.
Purport
The charges of diferent Vedas were entrusted to different learned scholars for development in various ways.
