Chapter 8: Lord Kṛṣṇa Shows the Universal Form Within His Mouth

तं दृष्ट्वा परमप्रीतः प्रत्युत्थाय कृतांजलिः आनर्चाधोक्षजधिया प्रणिपातपुरःसरम्

taṁ dṛṣṭvā parama-prītaḥ pratyutthāya kṛtāñjaliḥ ānarcādhokṣaja-dhiyā praṇipāta-puraḥsaram

Synonyms

tamhim (Gargamuni); dṛṣṭvāafter seeing; parama-prītaḥNanda Mahārāja was very much pleased; pratyutthāyastanding up to receive him; kṛta-añjaliḥwith folded hands; ānarcaworshiped; adhokṣaja-dhiyāalthough Gargamuni was visible to the senses, Nanda Mahārāja maintained a very high respect for him; praṇipāta-puraḥsaramNanda Mahārāja fell down before him and offered obeisances..

Translation

When Nanda Mahārāja saw Gargamuni present at his home, Nanda was so pleased that he stood up to receive him with folded hands. Although seeing Gargamuni with his eyes, Nanda Mahārāja could appreciate that Gargamuni was adhokṣaja; that is, he was not an ordinary person seen by material senses.
