caturdaśaṁ nārasiṁhaṁ bibhrad daityendram ūrjitam dadāra karajair ūrāv erakāṁ kaṭa-kṛd yathā

Synonyms

caturdaśamthe fourteenth in the line; nārasiṁhamthe incarnation of the Lord half man and half lion; bibhratadvented; daityendramthe king of the atheist; ūrjitamstrongly built; dadārabifurcated; karajaiḥby the nails; ūrauon the lap; erakāmcanes; kaṭa-kṛtcarpenter, yatha—justlike.

Translation

In the fourteenth incarnation, the Lord appeard as Narasingh and bifurcated the strong body of the athiest (Hirnayakashipu) by the nails just like the carpenter pierces the cane.
