নৌকাতে কালীযজ্ঞান, দীপে রত্নজ্ঞানে! জালিযারে মূঢলোক ঽকৃষ্ণঽ করিঽ মানে!

नौकाते कालीयज्ञान, दीपे रत्नज्ञाने! जालियारे मूढलोक ऽकृष्णऽ करिऽ माने!

naukāte kālīya-jñāna, dīpe ratna-jñāne! jāliyāre mūḍha-loka 'kṛṣṇa' kari' māne!

naukāteon the boat; kālīya-jñānaknowledge as the Kālīya snake; dīpeon the torch; ratna-jñāneconsideration as jewels; jāliyārethe fisherman; mūḍha-lokafoolish men; kṛṣṇa kari' māneaccept as Kṛṣṇa..

Translation

"These fools think that the boat is the Kālīya serpent and the torchlight the jewels on his hoods. People also mistake the fisherman to be Kṛṣṇa.
